KAUST Mathematics Competition
The KAUST Mathematics Competition is a national competition in mathematics organized by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). It targets students in Grades 6 to 11, both Saudi Nationals and Saudi Residents, studying in schools across the Kingdom.
The competition aims to develop higher-order thinking skills, foster a passion for mathematics, and provide an excellent academic platform for talented students.

Phase One
Applications are open from October 6, 2026, to December 12, 2026.
A proctored written test at around 50 test centers nationwide.
Phase one date: January 23, 2027
Locations: 50 test centers across General Education Departments nationwide, in addition to Jubail and Yanbu.
Phase Two
250 Students will qualify from the first phase to attend the final phase Hosted at KAUST, in a 3-day event including the final test, enrichment activities and an awarding ceremony.
Final Phase date: April 2 – 4, 2027

What is the KAUST Math Competition (KMC)?
The KAUST Math Competition is a national mathematics competition organized by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). It targets students in Grades 6–11, both Saudi Nationals and Saudi Residents, studying in schools across the Kingdom. The competition aims to develop higher-order thinking skills, foster a love for mathematics, and provide an excellent academic platform for talented students.
Who can participate?
The competition is open to all students in Grades 6–11 (Saudi Nationals & Saudi Residents) from schools within the Kingdom.
How can students register for the competition?
Registration is done online via the competition website or the KAUST Academy page.
- Students must complete the registration form and pay the participation fee.
- Important: A student’s registration will be successful only after full payment of the application fees.
Is there an application fee for KMC?
Yes, applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of 100 SAR.
What are the stages of the competition?
- Stage 1 (Elimination Round): Held in-person. Competition centers will open in all 16 educational administrations in addition to King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (Thuwal) based on the registration numbers.
- Stage 2 (Final Round): Held at KAUST over 3 days, with the top qualified students from Stage 1.
What is the format of the questions?
- Stage 1 – Grades 6 & 7: 20 multiple-choice questions
- Stage 1 – Grades 8 & 9: 24 multiple-choice questions
- Stage 1 – Grades 10 & 11: 30 multiple-choice questions
- Stage 2 – Final Round (all grades): 6 written-response questions
- All questions are presented in both Arabic and English.
Are sample questions available?
Yes, sample questions will be posted on the competition page on the KAUST Academy website.
Are students responsible for the costs of the final stage?
No. KAUST will cover all costs for students selected for the final stage, including:
- Domestic airfare
- Transportation
- Accommodation at KAUST
- Meals during the competition days
What are the tracks of the competition?
The competition has three main tracks to ensure fair competition among different age groups:
- Grades 6-7
- Grades 8–9
- Grades 10–11
What are the prizes and awards for winners?
- Special prizes recognizing outstanding achievement for Grades 6 & 7 winners.
- Complimentary participation in KAUST Academy programs.
- The first-place winner in each track (Grades 8-9 and Grades 10-11) will receive an exclusive opportunity to attend a summer training camp at Cambridge University in the UK.
Where will the competition take place?
The First round test centers will be in the main cities of the listed educational administrations,
And the specific locations of these centers will be determined once registration closes on December 12, 2026
Final round will be at KAUST from April 2-4, 2027
